    Random thing generator

The random thing generator picks one or more random things from a ready-made or edited list. Start with one hundred everyday objects, or paste your own options and draw from those.

Ways to use the random thing generator

    Drawing and writing prompts

Generate one everyday object to draw or describe, or take three and put them in one scene.

    Class activities

Draw vocabulary words, icebreaker topics, or the next presenter from a pasted list.

    Charades and party games

Turn on no-repeats so every round gets a prompt nobody has acted out yet.

    How the generator works

    1. Choose the pool

Load a ready-made list such as Random things, or type, paste, and edit your own entries.

    2. Set how many

Draw up to 50. A shorter list sets the cap.

    3. Generate again

With Avoid repeats on, used items sit out. When the pool empties, a fresh round starts on its own.

    Random thing generator questions

The lists, batch size, repeats, weights, and saving.

    What things can it generate?

Whatever the loaded list holds. Random things supplies one hundred everyday objects and loads first, other examples supply names and tasks, and every entry can be edited or replaced. It draws from lists of words, not number ranges.

Can I get more than one thing at once?

Yes. Draw up to 50, or the list length when smaller. Copy grabs the whole batch.

Can it avoid repeating the same thing?

Turn on Avoid repeats. Used items sit out until the pool runs out, then a fresh round starts automatically. Reset used clears the tally early.

Can I use my own list?

Yes. Use it as a random picker for your own list: type entries, paste one per line, or import a CSV with up to 250 items.

Can some things come up more often?

Yes. Raise an item's weight up to 5x to make it more likely in each draw.

How are my custom thing lists saved and shared?

The generator saves your current thing list in this browser, with no account required. Share creates a snapshot link that opens a copy of that list and its settings.
