Random NHL team generator questions
The club list, the Mammoth, the Original Six, and rights.
Are all 32 NHL clubs included?
Yes — every 2026-27 franchise, 16 per conference, checked August 24, 2026.
What happened to the Arizona Coyotes, and what is the Utah club called now?
The Coyotes moved to Utah in 2024 as Utah Hockey Club. It became the Utah Mammoth in May 2025, the name used here.
Can I draw from just the Original Six?
Yes. That list holds the Bruins, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Canadiens, Rangers, and Maple Leafs — the whole league from 1942 to 1967, all still playing.
Can I draw several clubs at once without repeats?
Yes. Draw all 32, 16 from a conference, 8 from a division, or 6 from the Original Six. A batch has no duplicates.
Is there an NHL team wheel?
Yes. Switch to the Wheel view above the tool to spin this same list, Original Six included.
Can it split my friends into teams for a pool?
No — it draws NHL clubs, not people. To split a group, use the random group generator; to deal all 32 clubs in order, use Shuffle.
Every list uses our own two-tone club chips; official crests appear only after a pick. Unofficial fan-made tool, not affiliated with or endorsed by the NHL or any NHL club. Team names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners.
