Random job generator questions
The occupation list, its source, and the tool's limits.
Are these real jobs?
Yes. Every title is an occupation from the US Department of Labor's O*NET-SOC taxonomy.
How many jobs are in the generator?
196, curated from 1,016 O*NET-SOC titles. Catch-all and near-duplicate titles were removed.
Can I filter jobs by career field?
Yes. The Career field filter and the ready lists cover eight fields: Healthcare, Trades & Construction, Creative & Media, STEM & Engineering, Service & Hospitality, Business & Office, Public Service & Education, and Outdoors & Agriculture.
Can I use it for writing or character prompts?
Yes. Draw one occupation per character and use the description as a starting detail.
Does it tell me what job I should have?
No. It is a random pick, not a career assessment or advice.
Does it show salaries?
No. Salaries change by place and time, so result cards describe the work instead.
Is there a job wheel?
No dedicated page. Paste your chosen occupations into the wheel spinner.
Can I generate more than one job at once?
Yes. Draw up to 50; smaller filters lower that cap. Batches never duplicate titles. Avoid repeats affects later draws.
